Governance Structure
Under the mandate of the Archbishop
The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) of the Archdiocese of Blantyre is a social arm of the Catholic Church, founded by the Catholic Bishops of Malawi in 1995. It is a faith-based organisation inspired by Gospel values and the Social Teachings of the Church.
The Commission is under the legal mandate of His Grace, Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa. Below him is the Board, followed by the Secretariat headed by a Coordinator. Below the Secretariat are Deanery and Parish CCJP Committees, and then out-church CCJP Committees.
In each parish there is an established CCJP Parish Committee, and in each deanery a CCJP Deanery Committee coordinating parish work. There are over 50 CCJP Church, Parish and Deanery Committees across the Archdiocese. Each Parish Committee has a membership of not less than 50 dedicated animators and volunteers — men and women of varied skills and experience, many serving since 1995 on a voluntary basis. CCJP also has almost 100 trained paralegals across the Archdiocese.

Secretariat
CCJP Blantyre staff
The CCJP Blantyre Secretariat is a dedicated team of professionals supporting programme delivery, finance, monitoring and evaluation, research and paralegal services, field operations, and administration across the Archdiocese.
Led by the Archdiocesan Coordinator, the Secretariat implements the Commission's justice and peace mandate, coordinates parish and deanery committees, and provides technical support to community volunteers and paralegals throughout southern Malawi.
