About the Project

The Financial Capabilities and Asset Building (FCAB) Project is an initiative implemented by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in collaboration with the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP). The project focuses on addressing issues of labour trafficking and building the financial resilience of vulnerable communities, particularly youths between 18-35 in Blantyre and Mangochi Districts.

Our Goal

The FCAB Project aims to empower youths with financial knowledge and tools, enabling them to:

  • Manage resources wisely.
  • Save for emergencies and future needs.
  • Protect themselves from risks of exploitation and trafficking.
  • Reduce the prevalence of cross -border labour trafficking of at- risk 18 – 35 years old by 2027 in six Districts in Malawi and Zambia
  • Increase by 50% the number of at risk youth labour trafficking survivors who demonstrate financial capability.

What We Do

  1. Community Trainings – Educating groups on financial literacy, savings, and asset building.
  2. Digital Savings Groups – Introducing technology that enhances transparency and accountability in group savings.
  3. Research & Advocacy – Generating evidence on the link between poverty, financial insecurity, and labour trafficking.
  4. Support Systems – Establishing social funds to help members during emergencies.
